Our Tibetan School
Sunday tibetan school
Sunday Tibetan School is one of the most dynamic and effective programs offered by Northwest Tibetan Cultural Association (NWTCA). Northwest Tibetan Cultural Association (NWTCA) is a registered non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization, established in 1993 to create a spiritual and cultural home for Tibetans living in Oregon and Southwest Washington. The main objective of NWTCA is to preserve and promote the rich ancient culture and tradition of Tibet. NWTCA organizes various programs and events for Tibetans, while interacting with the greater Northwest community to promote awareness about the Tibetan culture and reinforce His Holiness the Dalai Lama's message of global peace and compassion.
The goal of Sunday Tibetan School is to immerse our children in Tibetan culture, language, and traditions on a weekly basis in order to instill in them a strong sense of their Tibetan roots and identity.
Sunday Tibetan School begins at 9:30AM with a morning assembly in the shrine and ends at 3:00PM with language and performing arts classes. Our students range in age from 6-17 and we currently have 50 plus students enrolled. There are 6 levels of Tibetan language classes offered, which are taught by experienced and dedicated teachers. In Performing arts classes, our children learn traditional Tibetan songs, dances, and musical instruments under the expertise of our exceptionally talented and patient teacher, Mr. Tashi Tsering. In addition to Sundays, music and dance classes are also held on Saturdays from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.
Morning at 9.30am
